How Only1 uses Solana to outperform Patreon & OnlyFans
🎉 We are excited for our public launch on June 16, read on to understand why this matters for creators globally.
Only1 is a web3 membership site that empowers creators to earn and grow their fan communities, powered by $LIKE. Creators can launch collectibles called Passes or subscription as paywall to their exclusive content. The platform harnesses blockchain technology in three key ways to better help creators than traditional platforms such as Patreon or OnlyFans:
- 0% Fee on tips & subscription
- Creator sovereignty over funds and content
- Decentralised content moderation
1. Low fees and instant payouts
Traditional platforms like Patreon and OnlyFans enable creators to earn through member-exclusive content but involve payment intermediaries and banks, leading to around 5% transaction fees and delayed payouts. Only1 harnesses blockchain technology to offer similar services with nearly 0% fees and instant payouts, boosting creators’ earnings and satisfaction. OnlyFans generated about $12.5 billion on user spending in 2022 (See article), with their 20% platform fee, Only1 can save creators $2.5 billion, let that sink in.
2. Creator Sovereignty
In late 2021, OnlyFans banned adult content due to banking partner’s reputation concerns (see article), leaving creators fearing getting deplatformed. Similar risks also exist on other platforms, such as the potential TikTok ban in the United States. Centralisation fuels these issues, but Only1’s censorship-resistant design, such as disintermediating payment processors or storing user identities based on wallet addresses they sovereignly own, ensures creators can confidently focus on content creation and community building, free from such concerns.
3. Decentralised Content Moderation
Content moderation has long plagued user-generated content platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Pornhub, who struggles with the inefficient removal of defamatory, violent, or illegal material. At Facebook for example, traditional moderation methods burden thousands of employees, some requiring therapy after prolonged exposure to such content. Only1 adopts a consensus-based moderation system similar to Proof-of-Stake blockchain validation. DAO members or $LIKE token stakers participate in voting on flagged content, shaping a platform truly built and governed by its community.
